MobHinter is a recommender system for mobile devices proposed originally in 2008 and recently developed as part of IS4.MOBI project. MobHinter is designed for spreading of information on a geographic proximity basis, and it allows for timely advertising and notification of context-aware events. Current implementation of MobHinter makes use of PhoneGap, that is a HTML 5 based mobile framework that supports many different platforms. Native Android add-ons are available with the source code.
IS4.MOBI is a Finpiemonte-funded project addressed to the implementation of a demonstrative platform that can enable the rapid development of accessible and multi-platform services for different mobile devices. Our department at University of Turin is part of a consortium that includes also three industrial partners (Ooros, ATON, Telecom Italia), and one research center (ISMB - Istituto Superiore Mario Boella). The part of the project under the responsibility of ARCS group focuses on epidemic diffusion of information exploiting human mobility. This project is supported under Polo ICT framework.
